The College Press was created in 2001 out of a need to get published. I was constantly frustrated by how difficult it was to find resources willing to publish the articles required for my journalism portfolio and graduation. This frustration led me to develop my own resource for publication. With my basic knowledge of web programming, I put together an online newspaper which I called The College Press. Once TCP was launched, I was surprised by the immediate response from journalism students, journalism professors from around the world and others who simply wanted to write and see their works in print. Their eagerness to become involved inspired further site development that included journalism professors.
After years of trial with specific features and comments and suggestions from site participants, the international newspaper that was created with professors and dedicated to students was ready for introduction all over the country.
Site features include:

Independent virtual portfolio management from onset of education throughout a journalism career

Submission of work for peer editing
Final professional editing prior to publication

Secure online classrooms

Social networking with media colleagues nationwide

Access to nationwide job opportunities
Professors can take the teaching of journalism to its highest levels with their secure online classroom. They can be proactive forces in the education of their students from the first step throughout their careers with the touch of a keypad and the magic of a computer screen. With the TCP virtual portfolio and the social networking features, professor/student relationships will no longer have to end at graduation.
Students will not have to experience the frustration of publishing rejection or lack of publication resources. Their time and energy can be devoted to successful completion of the academics necessary for their future.
Media professionals will have exposure to the best and brightest minds in the field of journalism.
It is my sincere hope that The College Press will revolutionize the field of journalism for professors and students. Our portfolio management and national networking concept can inject a renewed enthusiasm and excitement that could be very influential in returning it to its rightful position as a highly respected and reliable source for public information, entertainment and education. We hope you will join us on this journey and make your own contribution to that success.
